6.1.18 Hythe new-builds badly damaged in large fire

The large fire has badly damaged seven new-build houses which were under construction.

The blaze broke out at the housing development on Fawley Road in Hythe, Hampshire.

The flames engulfed one block of four semi-detached homes and one block of three.  No one was hurt but fire fighters remained on the scene damping down and dealing with hot spots.

Crews from Hythe, Totton, Beaulieu, Hardley, Redbridge, St Mary’s, Eastleigh and Lymington were in attendance.

About 30 fire fighters spent the night tackling the flames, Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service stated.

Ambulances were sent to the scene but no injuries were reported.

An investigation into the cause has begun.
