22.8.17 Redcar fire destroys family home. Flames were seen billowing from the terraced property.

It took crews from four fire stations to extinguish the blaze.

The fire which has destroyed a family home is not being treated as suspicious, police say.

The blaze at the terraced property on Cropton Close, Redcar, caused devastating damage and destroyed nearly all of the family’s belongings.

A spokeswoman for Cleveland Police confirmed the force were not involved in investigating the fire, and it is not being treated a suspicious.

It started at around 3pm on Tuesday 22nd August, where huge flames could be seen coming from the upper floor.  By the time fire crews arrived, the two-storey property was well alight.

There were no injuries reported and it is believed no one was home at the time of the incident.

Units from Redcar, Saltburn, Grangetown and Guisborough fire stations attended the blaze.

The fire was extinguished, but the first floor was completely destroyed.  The ground floor had water damage, and the house next door was also damaged by smoke.

Neighbours reported hearing two loud bangs before smoke began billowing out of the property.
