2.1.17 70 fire fighters battled huge fire on industrial estate in Tottenham

01-03-2017

70 fire fighters and 10 fire engines have battled a huge fire on an industrial estate in Tottenham.

Smoke from the fire was visible for miles around.  The blaze was affecting the ground and mezzanine floors and the roof of the industrial unit.  Four people managed to escape from the unit before the fire fighters arrived.

Dramatic video footage taken at the scene showed smoke billowing from the building in Bernard Road.

Station Manager Martin Freeman who attended the incident said: "Crews worked hard in arduous conditions to bring this fire under control, fighting it from both inside and outside of the building.  Cylinders were reported to be on the site but fire fighters safely removed them."

Crews from seven fire stations attended the incident and the cause of the fire is under investigation.   Fire fighters remained at the scene damping down remaining pockets of fire.

Police were also in attendance having been requested to attend the scene by London Fire Brigade.
