21.11.16 Investigation launched after warehouse blaze at car repair centre

Twelve fire crews battled a warehouse fire in Wallisdown in the early hours of 21st November.

The blaze, which took two hours to put out, was at the Nationwide Accident Repair Centre on Wallisdown Road.

Twelve appliances from Redhill Park, Westbourne, Springbourne, Poole, Christchurch, Hamworthy, Wimborne and Wareham were called the scene in an attempt to stop the fire from spreading.

Eight sets of breathing apparatus and two hoses were used to extinguish the flames.

Dorset Police were also requested to attend to assist the Fire and Rescue Service with the investigation into the cause of the incident.  Staff at the branch, which was recently taken over by Nationwide Accident Repair Centre, were unable to comment on the fire.

A spokesperson for Nationwide Accident Repair Services confirmed that a number of vehicles were damaged as a result of the fire.

They added: "The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and customers of Nationwide are being contacted."

Nobody was injured.
