6.5.16 Elderly man dies in Luton house fire

An elderly man has been killed in a fire at a house in Luton.  The blaze broke out in Maple Road West on Friday 6.5.16.  The man, in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Police were also called to the scene as the two-storey building was ablaze, resulting in 50 per cent fire damage and 75 per cent smoke damage.

His family have been informed and an investigation into the cause of the fire is under way, Bedfordshire Police said.

Three pumps attended the fire with officers using breathing apparatus, hose reels, covering jets, thermal imaging equipment and positive pressure ventilation.
